On Sunday May 17th 2020, Shirley Moncini, loving mother of 3 passed away at the age of 76.
Shirley was born on October 8th, 1943 in Wheeling WV to James and Wilma Ritchie. Although very poor she put herself through college to receive a nursing degree. Shirley was a nurse her entire life, dedicating the last 20 years of her career to tending to our US Veteran soldiers at the Seattle VA Hospital.
Shirley had a love of family and her perfect evening was a homemade meal (even leftovers were a feast when she prepared them) followed by hours of spirited board games, card playing or building a 1000 piece puzzle. She had an infectious very unique laugh and once she started laughing everyone, including the neighbors knew that it was her. However don’t let her homebody appearance fool you. Shirley loved the outdoors; tent camping, hiking and teaching her children how to fish, everyone had to hook their own worms. She taught all three of her son’s the value of a hard day’s work and emphasized that all people deserve respect regardless of their background or social status. In her house school work came first, then house work, only then were we allowed to play.
.
Shirley was preceded in death by her father James, mother Wilma and sister Patricia. Shirley is survived by her three sons Keith (daughter in law Lilly), Michael, James, her sister Rose, her 5 Grandchildren, Brandon, Kevin, Kyle, Taylor, Justin and 4 Great Grandchildren.
