Mary Margaret Sutter, known as Nona to most, was born in Renton on July 24, 1921. She passed away surrounded by family in her home on October 21, 2021. A lifelong Renton resident, she is the last of her generation and recently celebrated her 100th birthday.
Mary is survived by her three children; Joann and Dan Maryott, Cindy and Kirby Smith, and Frank and Terry Sutter; five grandchildren; and eleven great grandchildren.
Mary loved to cook and bake and thrived on feeding people. She volunteered her time at the Renton Historical Museum and the Friendly Kitchen.
The family would like to thank her oldest great-grandson, Stephen, who did a wonderful job of taking care of her; and Envision Hospice, especially Janet and Jessica, who were very kind and compassionate during her final weeks.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to any local food bank. She will be laid to rest next to her loving husband, Louis Sutter, during a private burial at Mt. Olivet Cemetery. A celebration of life will be held this coming summer.
