Jerzy Adam Gwozdz was born on August 28, 1950, in Poland to Marianna Barbara Siejka and Tadeusz Stanislaw Gwozdz. He was a great older brother to his two younger sisters Alicja and Wieslawa.
Post high school, Jerzy studied masters in EE at Warsaw Polytechnic, Poland. Later, after the 1981 martial law was lifted, he and his future wife, Kate Maria Wolska, left Poland in November 1983 and through Traiskirchen, Austria arrived as political refugees into the US in June 1984. They settled in Omaha, NE where they met great friends, Ival and Marie Hesser and Janette and Alaeldin Rachid. Later Jerzy found his first job after graduating with Bachelor in CS degrees from University of Nebraska at Omaha (UNO) in 1987/88. Jerzy worked at ACI, Omaha until in 1989 Kate was transferred to Seattle offices of US WEST where both found jobs.
In his free time, Jerzy loved working on family cars. He also supported his wife’s hobbies – building rock walls and rock steps in their garden as well as fixing her rowing single so she could row at the Lake Union Rowing club. He loved driving his twins Arthur and Peter to Pre-K, K, and school and later loved spending time with them and teaching them math so they could do more advanced work in school.
Jerzy passed away on December 25th, 2021. He is survived by his wife, Kate M. Wolska, his twin sons, Arthur W. Gwozdz and Peter W. Gwozdz, and his two sisters, Ala Kalaska and Wiesia Goral. He will be remembered as a great husband, loving father, supportive brother, and good friend. Jerzy will be laid to rest at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Renton, WA.
