On Saturday, May 17,2025, Georgia Washington-Mathews,74 years old, transitioned peacefully at home with her beloved family by her side.
Georgia was born in 1951 in Jackson, Mississippi. She grew up in Illinois and settled in Seattle, Washington. She enjoyed traveling and going on cruises with her loved ones.
Georgia was a selfless, dedicated and committed person who always prioritized the needs of others before her own. She was a caregiver for many friends and family members including her mother and husband. She worked as a healthcare professional at Harborview Medical Center, Carolyn Downs Family Medical Clinic and Minor and James Clinic in Seattle, Washington.
She was a devoted Christian and served as First Lady at Star Bethel Missionary Baptist Church in Seattle, Washington.
Georgia is survived by her daughters; Machell, Mya and Vanassa (Marco Ballesteros) residing in Kent, WA. Sister; Lula residing in Auburn, WA. Grandchildren; Shovvona, Edward, Makala, Maleah, Nisany and Lidani. Two great grandchildren: Nasir and Jakarta. Niece April Washington-McNair and Nephews; Walter III and TuRomne Wahington. A host of great nieces, nephews and cousins.
Georgia is preceded in death by her husband, Roger Mathews, her parents, Walter Sr. and Louise Washington, brothers: Walter Jr., Ed, Fred, Andrew and nephew, Jamal Washington.
Georgia’s life will be celebrated privately at a later time.
